The music, the life, the song for JAHANA has shifted. JAHANA JONES has evolved into a singer that uses her instrument to bring a sound to this world that delivers the message of Jesus Christ. JAHANA has totally embraced her life, her insecurities, and her struggles with total faith in God. Through dedicating her life to God, she has developed her own unique style, both musically and vocally. JAHANA JONES is blessed with a high sounding bold and powerful soprano voice that draws comparisons to the likes of noted influences of Chaka Khan and Karen Clark- Sheard. This songbird has become a force to be reckoned with in the kingdom of God!
Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, JAHANA spent much of her childhood heavily involved with music. She has been singing since the age of 3 years old. She began her singing career singing with her mother, brother and sister, formerly known as “The Jones Family’. Singing with her family, afforded her the opportunity to appear on noted TV show “Showtime at the Apollo” at the legendary Apollo Theatre in Harlem, NY. They also performed at such events as the inauguration of Philadelphia’s former Mayor John Street, and multiple church events and conferences. Entering her adulthood, still being heavily involved in music, JAHANA served in positions such as lead vocalist with school and church choirs, praise and worship leader at church, and recording session vocalist.
On her music career path, JAHANA has been afforded the opportunity to share stage along with adding her striking soprano sound on background vocals for both Gospel music and R & B greats to name a few; Pattie Labelle, Philly’s own Musiq Soulchild, Ceelo Green, Christina Aguilera, The Roots, Lil Mo, Cassidy, Jonathan McReynolds, Kierra Sheard and Vashawn Mitchell, Jonathan Nelson, Kevin Terry. These experiences provided her the ground training she needed to develop into the Christian Artist but yet vocal powerhouse she is today.
JAHANA is presently one of JJ Hairston’s traveling singers and is featured on one of his latest released singles “Miracle Worker”. She is also currently serving as Worship and Arts director, alongside her husband Steve McCoy at the Imago Dei Eastside location (Portland, OR). JAHANA’S goals is to be that instrument that touches the hearts of her audience through music that help save the lost soul and become that bridge for people looking for God. “I’ve been there! lost, searching and now hungry for God” says JAHANA. With her steps ordered by God, JAHANA is confident in this thing “IF GOD BEFORE ME, WHO CAN BE AGAINST ME.”
You will always find JAHANA saying “To God Be the Glory, for ALL he’s doing in Me.”
